James Ollen Rymus
Major James Ollen Rymus (Retired)of Hooper City, Utah passed away July 8, 2015. He was born April 9, 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas to Dillon and Aline Coiner Rymus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother (Bobby) as well as his wife, Sami.
Surviving family include six children, Sharon Martz (Steve), Cathy Loomis (David), Sue Kummer (Jim), Michael Rymus (Bernice), Victoria Narr (Dean), Valerie Keenan (Michael); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A true American Hero, he served active duty through three wars: WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He received two Purple Hearts, one for injuries received as a Marine on Iwo Jima and as an Army officer for Korean Conflict injuries. He received a battlefield commission and numerous citations and medals. After his military retirement in 1968, he worked for First Security Bank in Salt Lake City for many years. He was also an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He was one of the founding members of the Wasatch Hunting Retriever Club. In addition, he owned and operated YellowEyes Retriever/Training.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10 am the Hooper City Cemetery, 5375 S 6300 W. Reception to follow at Hooper City Community Center, 5580 W 4600 S.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
