James Shurtz

February 4, 1989 – February 20, 2016. 

James passed away unexpectedly on Saturday doing one of the many things he loved. The son of Jim Rich and Shola Shurtz (deceased), James grew up in Clearfield with his adoptive parents Glenn and Rena Shurtz, whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed a happy and active childhood with six siblings, two of whom he now joins on the other side of the veil. On July 12, 2012, James married the love of his life, Janae Canova, in the Bountiful Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A short three years later, James and Janae welcomed twins into their eternal family. James adored Janae, his princess Navy and his handsome Easton more than anything in this world.

He had a passion for learning, enjoyed the great outdoors and was naturally good at most everything he did. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten by those whose lives he touched during his brief mortal sojourn.

While we mourn his absence deeply, we find immeasurable comfort in our understanding of Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation. We know we will see our James again. The viewing will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, 9-10:30am, at the LDS Church Building located at 1828 N. 3000 W., Clinton, UT. The funeral services will follow at 11am. Graveside services will be held at the Clinton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the James Shurtz Family Memorial Account at America First Credit Union (Savings Account #9080847).
