James Arthur Sorbello

May 14, 1943 — September 16, 2024

James A. (Jim) Sorbello, aged 81, peacefully left this earthly realm on September 16, 2024, at his Clinton, Utah home, with his loving wife by his side, following complications from Parkinson's Disease.

Born on May 14, 1943, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Samuel and Virginia Sorbello, Jim spent much of his early life in Greeley, Colorado. After the death of his mother, when he was just 13, he was lovingly welcomed into the Bill Schmidke family in Greeley, where he worked on their farm and created many cherished memories.

Jim's spirit of service led him to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Vietnam and Akron, Ohio. After his military service, Jim returned to Denver, Colorado, where he met and married Bonnie, his devoted wife of 43 years. They spent 15 years in Denver, enjoying their shared passion for raising and showing Bulldogs, while Jim worked in carpet sales. The couple then relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, to be closer to dear friends. There, Jim worked as a Security Officer at The Orleans Hotel and Casino. After 14 years, they moved to St. George, Utah, a place they loved dearly, before relocating to Clinton, Utah, to be near family.

During his younger years, Jim was a man of many interests, including skiing, hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie; his treasured dogs, Hank and Honey; stepson, Trent Thompson; grandson, Trent Matthew Thompson; brother, William (Berta) Koebel of El Paso, Texas; niece, Carrie (Travis) Call of St. George, Utah; and sisters-in-law, Sherri Fernelius of West Bountiful, Utah and Teena (Don) Green of Kaysville, Utah; along with numerous wonderful nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate professionals at Elevation Hospice, including Dr. Oaks, Nurse JoCoy, Nurse Alicia, CNA Cindy, Social Worker Mary, and Chaplains Matt and Julie. Special thanks also go to Volunteer Julie for her haircuts and fun conversations.
