SOUTH OGDEN – Janet Jones Woolley, 94, passed away October 19, 2016. She was born on June 30,1922 to Florence Child Jones and Eugene Ducloux Jones. She was born at home and Doctor Brown came out to the house for the birthing.
One of her first jobs was as the elevator operator in the Eccles Building in Ogden. Other jobs were working at Hill Field and D.D.O. She also served as the Vice Chairwoman of the Republican Party in Ogden.
She married Edwin M. Woolley on October 16, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple They were active members of the LDS Church and served a mission to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Janet always loved nature and all the beauties that God created. She enjoyed being a mother and homemaker most of all. She was known for growing fabulous begonias, she could sew any piece of clothing that was needed and prepared delicious meals. She loved raising her own children and helping to raise five Navajo Indian children. She had a great love for all children. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been a joy in her life.
Janet had a lifetime love for art and has taught hundreds of students working with ceramics and china painting. Later in life she opened an art studio and school. She attended school in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Georgia, and Utah. She became a certified art instructor for Mojave College, and a teacher for BYU Extension. Janet was a member of the World China Painter’s Association, has pieces of her art work displayed in the World China Painter’s Museum located in Oklahoma, and a tea set she painted that is in the State of Utah Governor’s Mansion
She is survived by her sister Jeri Harris, her brother Curtis Jones; her four children: Mont Woolley, Camille Parker, MarJan Moulding and Bill Woolley. She has 18 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Janet was hard working, industrious and proud to be a member of that era known as “The Greatest Generation.”
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11 am at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah. A Viewing will be held from 10 to 10:45 am prior to service at the mortuary. Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery.
