Jean F. Petersen

August 21, 1929 — October 1, 2014

It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to (my mom) Jean F. Petersen, born August 21, 1929 to Christopher and Violet Flitton.  She married Leonard “Jack” Petersen in 1955 (later divorced) together they raised 3 children, Kristine, Tina and Neil. Jean was raised in Ogden, UT and later moved to Clearfield, where she resided for more than 50 years.

She was a member of the Clearfield 5th Ward LDS faith.  Jean is survived by her daughter Tina and (Randy) Paterakis of West Point, Utah, daughter-in-law Karen Petersen of Maui, Hawaii, sisters Venita Hansen of Villa Park, California and Kay and (Steve) Willard of Portland, Michigan.  Her grandchildren Dustin and Audra Paterakis, Casey and Carrie Pymm, Cory Paterakis, Shanna Yoder, Shane Osborn, Scott and Malisa Hornung, Boyd and Paula Petersen, Chris and Shelly Fortier, Draya Petersen and Auburnie and Jared Schreiner as well as twenty-four great grandkids and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kristine Osborn, son Leonard “Neil” Petersen and brothers Clayne and Rex Flitton and sisters May Wynn and Joyce Clark.

Jean Petersen was hard workingwoman who always took care of herself and her children and insisted on always “paying her way”. She loved her family, her dog Tonka and trips to Wendover.  She enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars, tennis and golf.

At Jean’s request, no memorial service will be held.  Her family is planning a celebration of life to be held at 408 North 2550 West, West Point, Utah on October 7 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Open to all who would like to share in her memory.

A special thank you to all of her neighbors, Helen Collard and Pat McPherson and all of her friends of the Clearfield 5th Ward of the LDS Church as well as Kimber and Doug of Symbii Home Healthcare, for all of the help and support they did for Jean.
