Jeanne Marilyn Harris

December 1, 1947 — March 20, 2013

Jeanne Marilyn Harris, aged 65, passed away peacefully March 20, 2013 after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded in love by family and friends. Born on December 1, 1947 in Omaha, NE, she is preceded in death by her parents, LeMoine and Lydia Menshik and her brother Sonny. Survived by her four daughters, Michelle Heinz (Phil), Dana Lynch (Bob), Tina Smith (Terry), Jennifer Justice (Carl); her partner, Keith Henderson; her 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; her brother, Walter Menshik (Phyllis); her two nephews; her four pets; and many friends who loved her deeply. Jeanne's vivacious character has taught us all to be strong and brave, and to live life to the fullest.

Jeanne worked for Ogden City as the Business Information Center Manager (BIC) and Economic Development Project Manager since 2002, and played a major part in Ogden's new growth and the startup of many new businesses. Jeanne looked at each new development and business as a part of her own family.

Jeanne was a creative soul who spent her free time on her wonderful paintings, needlework and photography. Her sense of adventure has taken her on many different paths throughout the country, Greece and China. Many things gave her joy, such as drinking wine with family and friends, gardening, hiking, biking, genealogy and much more. Jeanne's intelligence and ongoing curiosity lead her to self-educate herself on many subjects, spiritually and academically.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice, who brought strength, comfort and compassion to us in her last month on earth. We are very grateful to her hospice team.

Jeanne will be cremated. We will be celebrating her life this upcoming Tuesday, March 26 at 5:00 PM at Mojo's Music Venue in downtown Ogden (2210 Washington Blvd.). If you knew and loved Jeanne, please join us.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to give a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association (www.abta.org) or another brain cancer organization of your choice.
