MORGAN - J.D. Poorman passed away in his sleep May 20, 2014 at his home in Morgan, Utah.
J.D. was born in Ogden, Utah on July 29, 1959 to the parents of Thomas Jefferson Poorman and Sherren O'Toole. He was a very gifted child with many ambitions. J.D. grew up in North Ogden with his younger brother Steve Poorman.
J.D. married Marlene Watson in 1985. They had one child, T.J. Poorman and lived in Morgan for 28 years.
J.D. excelled academically throughout his life. He was on the honor role at school from 7th grade through high school and later through college. He Graduated from Weber State University and continued his education at the University of Utah where he received his Doctorate Degree for Law in 1984. He had an established law practice in Ogden, Utah and served many positions within his community. He served two terms as the Morgan County Attorney from 1991-1998.
J.D. liked the outdoors fishing and camping with his family and special friend Kelly Kirby. He had an amazing wealth of knowledge and always had his face buried in a book. He had a big heart and was a wonderful father, husband, brother, son and papa. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
J.D. is survived by his son, TJ Poorman; his grandchildren, Bryson, Brailynn and Taislee. Also surviving is his wife of 29 years, his brother Steve (Jenny) Poorman, nieces Madison and Sydney Poorman and Dennis Stettler who was a very important father figure in his life.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Jefferson Poorman (1996), his mother Sherren O'Toole (2013) and his grandparents.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday June 14, 2014 at 5725 South 3750 West, Roy, Utah. All are invited to attend an open house celebration of his life from 4-6 p.m.
