Jerry Charles Martinez, 54, of South Weber, Utah, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013.

Jerry was born July 29, 1958, in Kremmling, Colo., to Joe Delfin Martinez Sr. and Delfinia Candelaria. He was the younger of two children.

He and his mother moved to Utah in 1970, where he graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School.

Jerry worked at the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden, Utah. It was here that he met Jane, his wife of 16 years.

He participated in multiple volunteer groups. He served as an administrator and new chapter coordinator of InSPIRE (Interactive Spiritual Partners for Internal Revenue Employees), prior president of HIRE (Hispanic Internal Revenue Employees), and volunteer for the I Can Read program and the American Dream Foundation. He helped with Adopt-A-Highway for St. Mary's Church and InSPIRE, and taught confirmation class at St. Mary's Church. His most recent passion was providing snacks and hats for oncology patients.

One of Jerry's favorite activities was fishing with his family. He was a lover of reggae music and a die-hard Denver Broncos fan.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jane of South Weber; mother, Delfinia Lucero of Ogden; daughter, Ambrosha of San Diego; son, Brandon of Seattle; stepsons, William Hampton of Salt Lake City, Adam Hampton of Strawberry Reservoir, Utah, and Matthew Hampton of Ogden; grandchildren, Avery, Kennedy, Zander and Evelyn; and brother Joe (Monica) Martinez of Ogden.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Delfin Martinez Sr. and stepfather, Alex Lucero.

Memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Holy Rosary one hour prior at 10 a.m, at St. Mary's Parish, West Haven, Utah. A celebration of life will be held at approximately12:30 p.m. at 2080 E. 7400 S., South Weber, Utah, 84405. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations be made to InSPIRE.

Jerry was a lover of life, a lifter of spirits and a tireless support to his friends and family. He will be dearly missed.
