Jessica Isabel Boyd Lewis passed away on July 17, 2022. Our mom, sister, grammy, and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father at the age of 60.
She was born on March 12, 1962, in the oceanside town of Santa Maria, California. She was the eldest and only daughter of Arcelia Boyd Guerricagoitia, and Pete Guerricagoitia with three crazy brothers with whom she was very close: Alex Boyd (Leann), Rick Elexpuru (Carolyn), and Chris Elexpuru (Diana). She loved her two sons, Sky Hazlehurst (Kait) and Stefan Lewis (Amelia), more than life itself and was so proud of them. She also loved and admired her daughters-in-law. She was a lover and supporter of the arts. She was a dancer, an artist, and an extremely gifted interior designer. She loved laughing and sharing stories with her family during BBQs, dinners, holidays, and any other excuse to get together. Jess fiercely loved her dear friends.
Jessica graduated from Rock Springs High School, then went to Western Wyoming College on a dance scholarship. She also attended BYU and Dixie State University, where she earned her associates degree. She then transferred to the University of Utah for her senior studies. She worked for many years as a designer for RC Willey Home Furnishings, where she excelled in her work and made many friends.
She has five spunky, beautiful grandchildren: Emma, Malcolm, and Desmond Hazlehurst, and June and Lucy Lewis, whom she absolutely adored. She was also close to her nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching their basketball games and dance recitals.
Jessica was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings and had a great love of her Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents Arcelia Boyd Guerricagoitia and Joel Terrance Boyd. Those who knew her understood what a genuine, loyal, and selfless person she was.
