Jesus "Jessie" Lopez Soto

December 25, 1923~ May 16, 2017

Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away on May 16, 2017, of natural causes. Jessie was born December 25, 1923, to Maria and Juan Lopez in Celaya Guanajuato, Mexico. They came to the U.S. in 1925.

She met and married Celestino Soto (deceased) in 1946, and had four daughters: Mary Ann Ginn (deceased), Petra (Ralph) Gevara, Mable (Louie) Guillen, and Josie (Donn) Owen.

She was a homemaker by heart, but worked very hard at various jobs in the cooking industry, besides raising four daughters. She was unable to complete her education due to her failing eyesight at a very early age.

She is survived by 12 grandkids, and 25 great-grandkids, and 14 great-great-grandkids.

Jessie had seven siblings (one stillborn, and one died after birth - both were male): Joe Lopez (deceased), Inocencio Lopez, Manuel Lopez (deceased), John Lopez and Antonia Lopez.

Jessie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and loved attending the Spanish Mass, and especially her mariachi's. She was a great cook and fussy about it's preparation. She leaves a great void in our hearts.

The family would like to thank Hearts For Hospice, especially Nicole.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 10 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 514 24th St, Ogden, Utah.  A viewing will be held  Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 6 to 8 pm with  a Rosary at 7 pm at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
