John David McQuade

November 25, 1945 — March 26, 2025

John D. McQuade, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 25, 1945, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to John and Jane McQuade.

Raised in Ogden, Utah, alongside his four younger siblings—Tom, Kathleen, Scott, and Ruthann—John developed a deep sense of family and faith that guided him throughout his life.

On April 23, 1967, he married the love of his life, Rochelle Draney. Together, they spent 52 wonderful years building a life centered on love, faith, and devotion to their five children.

John was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 26, 1957. In the early years of his marriage, he served as a pioneer in the door-to-door ministry alongside Rochelle. His deep love for Jehovah was evident in the way he lived—with kindness, empathy, and a genuine interest in others. His life was a beautiful reflection of Romans 12:10: “In brotherly love have tender affection for one another. In showing honor to one another, take the lead.”

A man of unwavering dedication, John worked tirelessly to support his family. He retired at the age of 71 as a building inspector for South Ogden City. Beyond his work, he found joy in music, playing the piano, and collecting turtles. With his warm sense of humor, he lovingly called himself “the doodle wrangler.”

John is survived by his five children: Justin, Gina (Mike Mansfield), Chad, Ryan, and Ian (Becca). He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Stirling and Scott Matheson, Rowan and Vaughn Stafford.
