John Michael Wolf, 81, passed away on April 26, 2023, at Heritage Park Care Center, in Roy, Utah. His wife of 49 years, Miriam Wolf, was by his side. He is survived by Miriam and their two sons, Sean and Matthew, and a younger brother Donovan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lydia Wolf, and brothers James and Robert.
John was born September 7, 1941, in Canistota, S.D. He graduated from high school in Fargo, North Dakota, and went on to attend Utah State University where he graduated with a degree in Forestry. John honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict.
John worked for many years at the IRS Service Center in Ogden, Utah, but his true passion was the sport of Archery. From the time he first picked up a toy bow and arrow, in his dad’s hardware store, he was hooked. John was a very active member of the Mount Ogden Archery Club and had held leadership positions. The archery range in Morgan, Utah was like his second home. Many family weekends were spent there enjoying archery, bar-b-ques and the clean mountain air.
Being an avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed gardening and always had a very nice vegetable garden in their large side lot. As a volunteer, he taught with the Foster Grandparents program through the Ogden City School District-mostly at Gramercy Elementary. Another trait of John’s was that he loved animals.
A special thanks to Heritage Park Care Center for providing kind and consistent care to John for the past few years. Also, thanks to Atlas Hospice Care for providing end of life comfort.
