Jose was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, the only child of Padero and Delores Hernandez. 

Jose was drafted into the Army at 23. He served two tours in Korea, two in Vietnam and retired after 32 yrs. 

In 1949 Jose married Iris and they had 4 children: Iris, Jose Jr., Tony, and Norma. They divorced and Jose married Violet, adopted her 3 children: Brian, Bruce & Brenda. After Violet passed away Jose married Nona Criger, who had 3 adult children: Belinda, Lisa (deceased) and Kevin Pearson. Nona cared for Jose for several years as Alzheimer's took his memory and robbed him of a full life with his children, grand-children including Matthew Weygint and great-grandchildren. 

The last almost 1 1/2 yrs he spent at the George Wahlen VA Home unit in North Ogden. His family would like to thank all the people working in D Pod for everything they did for Jose. You treated him so good. 

There will be a celebration of life at 338 W 1800 N, Sunset, on November 4, 2016  from 6:30 to 8:00. No flowers please and dress casually. There will be services later in Boise, ID.
