Joseph Ray Lewis

December 2, 1934 — January 12, 2014

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Joseph Ray Lewis, passed away Sunday morning, January 12, 2014. He was born on December 2, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Abel and Florence McFarland Lewis. He was a graduate of Ogden High School and Weber State University. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany and Austria. He had fond memories of being a member of the U.S. Army band that marched in the Heldenplatz at the last Russia-U.S. guard changeover in the Austrian capital. He enjoyed playing the trombone during his service. He loved his country dearly and was glad he was able to serve. He worked for Marquardt and Thiokol on the Minuteman missile program. He later retired from Hill Air Force Base. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, playing golf, and playing chess with his grandchildren. He was a member of the LDS church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Joan, of Pleasant View, his three daughters, Christine (Darrin) Allen, Jennifer (Chad) Slater, and Lisa Smith. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kambree and Landon Allen, Jordan, Courtney, and Josie Slater.
