Joyce D. Pedersen
Our beloved mother passed away at her home in Plain City Utah, December 6th 2014.
She was born March 23rd 1927, in Widnes England, the daughter of Arthur Durbin and Sophia May Jackson.
On June 9th 1945, she took a chance and married Bert George Pedersen, leaving her home for America.
During their marriage, Joyce and Bert ventured into many businesses, but she decided they needed a steady income, so she went to work for the IRS and retired after 20 years of service.
At the age of 49, she lost her beloved husband Bert on September 6th, 1975.
Joyce loved planting flowers and could recite the name of each variety. She certified as a Master Gardener from the Utah State Agricultural Extension.
As mom aged, she loved volunteering at the Autumn Glow Senior Citizen Center in Kaysville, as a line dance instructor, delivering meals on wheels and at the cafeteria serving lunches.
She suffered a stroke in January 2007 and could no longer care for herself. Kathy and Mike graciously welcomed her into their home, where she lived until her death.
Mom is survived by 4 children, Arthur K. (Pam) Pedersen; Shelley (Mike) Cobb, Anniston, Alabama; Bert G. Jr. (Nancy) Pedersen; and Kathy (Mike) Rhodes.
Joyce and Bert had 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her sister, Eileen (Tom) Garrity and family still live in Widnes, England.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Harry and Jack.
