Judy Lee Harris

February 25, 1943 — October 22, 2016

Judy Lee Smith Harris passed away October 22, 2016 in Murray Utah after a long battle with heart failure brought on by rheumatic fever which she had as a child.  Judy was  born February 25, 1943 in Ogden Utah to George Smith and Fern Irene Elmer Smith.  She grew up attending Ogden City schools, graduating from Ben Lomond High.

Judy married Emmett Lawrence Harris and was blessed with two sons, Phillip Lynn Harris and Craig L. Harris.  Judy, Larry and their sons lived in Long Beach California for several years, returning to Utah after she and Larry were divorced.

Judy worked in several manufacturing companies including Martin Marietta, Max Factor and Iomega, where she formed lifelong friendships.

In 2005 Judy suffered a life-threatening heart attack and subsequent heart problems which brought her to the brink of death.  After six weeks in intensive care and several surgeries, her strength and zest for life brought her through.  Judy moved to Burley Idaho in 2007 to be near her son Craig and found her way back to her childhood faith, becoming worthy and enjoying her time in the Twin Falls Temple.  She served in many callings since that time and loved them all.  We’re grateful for the friendships Judy made in her ward and appreciate the kindnesses of her church family these past years.

Judy is survived by her sons, Phillip and Craig (Kim), her grandchildren Kami Brown, CJ Harris, Stormie Harris (who lived with Judy for much of her life and enjoys a close bond with her Grandma) Scott Harris; Sherri Rynes and Elijah Thompson; Step grandsons Craig and Jesse Young; 15 great grandchildren; sister Robin Johnson (Keith), niece and nephews with whom she had a very special relationship, Brandi (Jason) Foree, Cody (Chelsea) Smith and Chaz (Sariah) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Clifford Smith, Lynn Stewart Smith and Marvin Smith.

Our family wishes to thank Judy’s daughter in law, Kim Harris, for the unwavering love and care she has given during Judy’s illness these past few years.  Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery.  A celebration of life will take place immediately following the service at her sister’s home in Layton, Utah.
