In Loving Memory of Kara Lynn Thomas
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Kara Thomas, who departed this world on September 15, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend and a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a cherished friend to many.
Kara was born as the fourth of five daughters to Darla Walker and Grant Gudmundson. She had an unwavering faith instilled in her by her mother and father, Larry Walker (predeceased). Kara's commitment to her faith was evident throughout her life, and her devotion extended to her community. She graduated from Viewmont High School in Bountiful Utah in 1989 and attended Dixie College where she played the clarinet in the concert and marching bands.
Kara served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Tampa, Florida Mission from 1991 to 1993, touching the lives of many with her boundless compassion and devotion.
On October 10th, 1997, Kara embarked on a beautiful journey when she married Scott Thomas, and together they made their home in Clearfield, Utah. In their 26 years of marriage, they were blessed with three wonderful children: Morgan, Wyatt, and Logan, who were the pride and joy of her life.
Kara's dedication to her faith extended to her service within her Ward and Stake. She selflessly served in various callings over the years, including Relief Society, Sunday School, Young Women, and Primary. Her deep love for her faith shone brightly as she shared her testimony of Jesus Christ with others.
Outside of her faith, Kara was known for her fierce loyalty to her family. She was a passionate football mom, cheering on her children from the sidelines and celebrating their victories both on and off the field. She also found joy in supporting her beloved Utah Jazz and Green Bay Packers, sharing in the excitement of every game.
Kara had a love for music, baking and enjoyed watching chick-flicks and crime shows. She was passionate about ministering to others. Her heart was open to all, and she had a special gift for writing personal notes to express her love and offer unwavering support.
Kara's legacy is one of kindness, acceptance, and boundless love for humanity. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
