Kenneth Wesley Austin

- Kenneth Austin, Age 83, embarked on another trip and adventure on the morning of March 25, 2010. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ken was born August 22, 1926, to Claude and Gertrude Austin in Whittier, California. He married Vura D. Eads and they had one daughter, Ceil. They were later divorced. He married Patricia J. Fifield and they had one son Jerry. Ken and Patricia were married for 30 years before she passed away. Ken then found his companion and love Sharon Bartley and they were married February 26, 1995.

Ken joined and served honorably in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was assigned to the USS Wasatch. He was a successful businessman and was a partner and/or owner of several furniture/mattress enterprises where he enjoyed meeting and conversing with his many customers as much as he enjoyed selling the product. Ken had a zest and happiness for life that he shared with all those he came in contact with. He had a wonderful gift and ability to tell a good story or a bad joke. Many sun-filled hours were spent deep sea fishing. He had a love of adventure and a passion for travel; just a few of the places he visited were China, Italy, London, Scotland and, of course, Las Vegas, where he had been known to place a bet or two.

Ken is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Jerry (Janice) Austin; his daughter, Ceil Blaine; stepsons, Jack and Scott Bartley; grandchildren, Lauren, Roy, Damon, Sandra and Andrew; step-grandchildren Brooke, Austin, Amy, Mason and Kristen; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gertrude Austin, his previous wife, Patricia Austin, and his dearly loved sister Lois Carroll.

A family memorial service was held at the Christian Life Center, Layton, Utah.

Cremation is under the direction of Aaron's Mortuary.
