Kristie Elaine (VanVliet) Miles, 59, of Roy, Utah was called home to the Lord, unexpectedly on Friday, February 16, 2018.
Kristie was born August 19, 1957, in Tucson, Arizona and, she graduated from Layton High School in 1975. She then went to work for the Internal Revenue Service shortly after graduating. She retired from Hill Air Force Base after a 40-year career she loved and respected in 2014. She was a fierce patriot and would always go out of her way to help any military personnel she could. Her kindness and compassion were contagious, and people always felt uplifted after spending time with her.
She married her best friend, John Miles June 17, 1995, and the two remained happily married and in love until his death May 4, 2017. Kristie enjoyed her beloved dog Molly, trivia, talking, and spending time with her friends and family.
Kristie is survived by her son, Justin Miles of Ogden UT; mother, Patricia Orazio of Layton, UT; brothers, Steve (Angie) VanVliet of Pocatello, ID and Mike VanVliet of Layton, UT; sister Jacqueline Maruri (Alex) of Louisville, KY ; stepdaughters, Amee Miles of Roy, UT; and Brandee Hicks and two grandsons Allen and Luke Hicks of North Carolina; along with numerous nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Miles, and their oldest child Kyle Miles; father Garrett VanVliet, and step-father Frank Orazio.
An open house will be held in her memory on Saturday February 24, 2018 at 10:00 am at 780 28th Street, Ogden, UT
