Kristine Lynn Wakefield
November 3, 1965 â March 16, 2015
Our loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend Kristine Lynn Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 16, 2015 at age 49. She was born November 3, 1965 to Ronald G. and Janet Gatzke Wakefield in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
As part of an Air Force family, she was fortunate to live in Germany for seven years and travel extensively throughout Europe in her youth. She graduated from Layton High School in 1983 and attended college at Weber State University before pulling up roots and moving to San Francisco. Her career in sales eventually took her to Chicago, where she fell in love with the city and the people and was happy to endure the winters there to call it home.
The opposite of a homebody, she enjoyed traveling around the country for business and pleasure, taking vacations to Hawaii and the Caribbean with her family, and taking her pups for long walks on the shores of Lake Michigan or attending one of the many events that Chicago offered. Her outsized personality was always fun to be around, and although she left us entirely too early, she packed a lot of living into her 49 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet
Kris is survived by her father, Ronald (Sandy); brothers, Donald (Ann) and David; nephew, Nicholas; best buddy and sidekick, Leah; four-legged sidekicks Maggie and Gracie; and numerous close friends in Chicago, San Francisco and other cities. .
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 1 pm at Aaronâs Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah, followed by inurnment in Ogden City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Krisâs name to a cause very dear to Krisâs heart, PAWS Chicago (pawschicago.org).
Special thanks to Leah, Andrea and Kelly for unbelievable support during this difficult time.
