Larry Saiz, 72, of Ogden, Utah departed this life on September 10, 2013. Larry was born on April 26, 1941, in Andersonville, MI to Frank and Bessie Saiz and graduated from Clarkston High School in 1959. Larry was married to his high-school sweetheart Darlene for 53 years and was the proud father of two sons, Danny and Robert and the foster father to Kathleen and Maureen.
In addition to his immediate family, Larry poured his love into friends who became family.
Larry was dedicated to his wife Darlene, sons Danny (Robin) and Robert (Michelle), two foster daughters, Kathy and Maureen; six grandchildren, affectionately known as the rinky-dinks, Hunter, Lena (Ammon), Mateja, Sterling, Zachary, and Benjamin, great-grandson Seth, deceased great-granddaughter Molly, a great-granddaughter on the way, his brother Claude, sister Carol, many nieces and nephews, Angie and Chris Maag's family, Tim and Michelle Gehrett's family, countless scouts, primary children, screaming babies and tired mothers. His dedication didn't end there, and Larry served the poor, elderly, young, and needy in a way few others could. He took time for the individual. Larry was steadfast in his faith; ordained a high priest at age 25, he served as branch president, first counselor to five bishops, and scoutmaster among many callings. He's happy to join his parents, siblings Bob and Mary Jean, and Molly in the great work of the spirit world. His charitable service will not stop with his life here.
Larry was generous with all he had, from his subtle and (not-so-subtle) sense of humor, delicious barbecue unmatched doughnuts and fried chicken, his green thumb, and spirited patriotism that drove his political activism.
Services for Larry will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15,2013 at the Mound Fort Second Ward, 952 Childs Ave, Ogden, Utah. In lieu of flowers, perform a random act of kindness.
