Laura Belle Swartz Bowker Kinser died Saturday, July 10, 2010, due to a long life well-lived. Born in Yale, OK to Charles W and Gertrude Belle Lee Swartz, she was the youngest child and only daughter of four children.
She married Harry "Jack" Hess Bowker, Jr., and together had three children, Linda, Mark and Pamela. They later divorced. Laura married Robert "Bob" W. Kinser in 1969, bringing his three sons, Thomas "Tek", Scott and Paul, to the family.
Laura was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for fifty years. She loved and cherished her many sorority sisters who were such an important part of her life.
Mother loved any excuse to entertain, to wear beautiful clothes and she never was one to pass up a party. She lived life with passion and a bullheaded determination that sometimes defied logic and common sense, but somehow she prevailed against all odds.
Laura is survived by her husband, Bob; daughters, Linda Knox and Pamela (Bob) Moore; sons, Mark and Scott (Doris); 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; her dear niece, Judy (Dale) Sullivan and nephews, Gale (Mary Ann) Swartz and Robert Allen Swartz.
"Miss me, but let me go. When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me, but let me go, for this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends I've known and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go."
A family and friends gathering will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010, 6-8 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 24th & Adams.
Cremation under direction of Aaron's Mortuary & Crematory.
