Ogden- Laura J. Montoya fought a battle with cancer and defeated it the back in 2015. But the cancer came back two years later, and she passed on December 15, 2017. Her final days she was surrounded by her loving family and the best of friends. Laura was born February 27, 1956 in Ogden, Utah to Jose F.  and Margaret (Huerta) Montoya.

She was educated in the Ogden City School District and served in the United States Navy from October 31, 1978 to October 31, 1998. Getting to travel around the world, she served her country proudly for 20 years retiring and residing back in Ogden, Utah where she then worked on Hill Air Force Base for 18+ years.

Laura loved her longtime boyfriend Ricardo Morfin and enjoying every minute they were together. On her weekends off she loved to go dancing with friends. Especially when it was cumbia night. She also loved going to movies, listening to her music and spending time with family. Laura had a heart of gold and loved everyone. Ending every message with “Peace & Love.”

She is survived by her only son, Gregory Saul Vick who will always love her. Also surviving siblings:  Alma (Enrique) Orosco, Irene Brown and Andrew Montoya who all love her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Monica Betancourt; two sisters, Marian and Gen; one brother, Lonnie and a niece, Conde.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th St. Ogden, Utah.

Interment will be in Ogden City Cemetery Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11am.

Laura touched so many people’s hearts and was there for anyone in need of care.

Rest In Peace, Mom, Sister, Aunt, Friend.
