LeAnn Allen Casterline

September 6, 1936 — September 5, 2024

LeAnn Allen Casterline passed away at her home in Roy, Utah, surrounded by family, only two hours shy of her 88th birthday.

LeAnn was born on September 6, 1936, in Ogden, Utah, to A. Leroy Allen and Glenna Pledger Allen, where she enjoyed grade school and “life” on Keisel Avenue.

After the family’s move to a local dairy farm and the oldest of five children, LeAnn learned at a young age to work hard and care for others.

LeAnn graduated from Weber High School where she met Gary R. Blodgett, an aspiring sports reporter. As luck would have it, LeAnn wasn’t into sports. The married couple worked closely for 19 years as wedding and portrait photographers, running a busy photo studio in their home in Bountiful.

LeAnn had two children, Jeffrey and Deanna, who were her pride and joy.

LeAnn’s skills in shorthand and typing brought her opportunities working in New York and later as a news reporter. She would mimic these motions in her sleep until the end.

After her children grew up, LeAnn worked at Hill Air Force Base as Executive Secretary to two lieutenant colonels in the Contracting Division. She retired after many years.

LeAnn met Don Casterline from Roy, Utah at American Spa and Fitness in Roy where they began to run into each other almost daily. Don also worked on Base as Guidance Systems Equipment Specialist. Their friendship quickly flourished into the love of their lives. The couple made Roy their hometown where they lived happily married for 42 years.

LeAnn spent her 20 years of retirement caring for family members. She enjoyed making her daily run to Walmart and blasting her upbeat piano music. LeAnn’s playful side was delightful to watch, whether dancing with her husband, at a singles dance, or embarrassing her kids at their junior high stomp. LeAnn had a straightforward sense of humor. She enjoyed making people laugh. LeAnn also had a fascination with the moon, searching for it every night.

LeAnn’s willingness to put herself out there and make it happen served as an important model for her children. LeAnn valued her family, making her children her priority. She made sure they knew of her love for them.

LeAnn is survived by her husband, Don Casterline; two children, Jeffrey (Kelly) Blodgett of Frazeysburg, Ohio, and Deanna (Bill) Avis of Roy, Utah; sister, Kaylen Allen Spinden; and brother, Scott (Judy) Allen. She has five grandchildren: Tyler Blodgett, Kevin Blodgett, Ryan Blodgett, Tyann Avis, and Joee Avis; as well as six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A. LeRoy Allen, and Glenna Pledger Allen; her brother, Vaughn Allen; and her sister, VerDene Allen Whittier.

We wish to add a special thanks to Sousann Taha, friend and CNA to LeAnn, who served with such beautiful respect, always giving so freely of herself.
