LESLIE FRANKLIN JONES

Leslie (Les) Franklin Jones passed August 12, 2022, to join those he loved on the other side. Les was born in 1930 in St. George, Utah, to Thomas Franklin Jones and Adelia Arvella Dalton.

He was in the US Navy from Dec 1947 until Dec 1951. He worked for the Utah Power and Light Company from 1952 until he retired June 1, 1987. Les married Shirley Mae Winkler on October 5, 1952, they had six children; Brent Kelson, Rand Kelson, Mark Clark, Scott Jones, Dirk Jones, and Leslie Jones Higginbotham. Shirley passed May 2, 1964.

He married Janice Finlayson on March 25, 1967. Jan passed on March 7, 2010 after a long and very happy marriage.

Les is proceeded in death by his mother, father, brother Lynal, sister-inlaw Ethel. Wife’s Shirley Jones and Janice Jones. 3 sons, Brent Kelson, Mark Clark, and Scott Jones. 1 son-in-law Billy W, Higginbotham, Granddaughter Marnay Kelson, Nephew Dennis Rosenberg, and 2 great Danes.

Les had 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.

He enjoyed life to the fullest, going camping, water skiing, fishing, and 4-wheeling. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.

He loved the history of Utah and Arizona. Going for rides and telling anyone with him all about what’s around the corner.

He was a good man and everyone that met him enjoyed his company. He was never meant to grow old – it slowed him down.

He will be dearly missed by all.

There will be no funereal as per his wishes, he will be cremated.
