Linda Love Porowski
1961 – 2024
Linda Love Porowski was reunited with her parents on January 20, 2024, after her second battle with cancer. Linda was born January 16, 1961, in Ogden, Utah to Fairen and Margaret Love. She grew up in Riverdale and graduated from Bonneville High. She was a proud Laker and loved being part of the planning committee for class reunions.
Linda married Kevin Porowski in 1986 and became the stepmom to Brian Porowski. They later added a son Andrew to the family and moved to Canada where Kevin was born. Kevin and Linda later divorced, and Linda moved back to the United States.
She had many talents which she happily shared with others. She had a beautiful singing voice, was an excellent cook, and became a master at creating vinyl tee shirt designs with her Cricut. She was a loving mother, hardworking, very organized and loved being where the action was. She could also tell the best “Dad Jokes”.
She was a good figure skater and shared that talent teaching Special Needs young people how to skate and perform. Her nieces and nephews remember her for teaching them sign language for ‘I love you’. She was also a master at folding a dollar bill into the shape of a bow tie.
Linda followed in her parents’ footsteps and volunteered at the Antelope Island visitor center for several years.
One of her proudest accomplishments was creating the “Remembering Ogden/Riverdale and Beyond” (RORAB) Facebook page. From this page she made many cherished friends.
She was currently working in the Weber County Clerk’s office issuing marriage licenses and passports. She had been recognized for her skill in charming children to get a good passport picture. She was trying to learn Spanish to help communicate with Spanish speaking customers that needed services in the clerk’s office. She recognized her boss as one of the best and considered her co-workers to be her work family.
She made friends wherever she went, including this past week with some special nurses at the LDS hospital that made her birthday a celebration even while she was bedridden.
She leaves behind her son Andrew Jared Porowski (Vancouver, Canada), and stepson Brian Porowski (Ogden, UT). She is also survived by her siblings Marilyn (John) Thorstensen, RaNae (Brian) Marietti, David (Lesa) Love, Ann (Calvin) Olson, and several nieces and nephews that she was very close with. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff at both LDS and McKay Dee Hospitals. She wanted her boss, Ricky Hatch, publicly thanked for visiting her in the hospital and providing her with “Dad Jokes” to entertain her nurses.
Per her wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 at the LDS church building at 4555 W 4000 S. West Haven, UT.
