Lois F. Beck
On February 1, 2017 we lost our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, Lois F. Beck. She passed three days before her 80th birthday. She was born February 4, 1937 to Thomas and Faye Haines—Cromwell in Boone, Iowa. She was the eldest of seven children.
The family later moved to Utah where she met and married Floyd Thompson. Together they had three children: Stephen, Twyla, and Kent Thompson. Floyd and Lois remained friends even after their 13-year marriage ended in divorce. She later remarried Allen Beck and had a son, also named Allen Beck. Following their divorce she met the love of her life Willie Martinez and they spent 18 years traveling and enjoying life until his death in 2004.
Lois was always a hard worker. She was known to say, "You don't get what you don't ask for!" She retired from the Ogden Department of Defense as a packing supervisor and had previously served as a union representative prior to that. She was very involved in the Democratic Party and a supporter of PBS/NPR.
She was always very supportive of all ten of her grandchildren and encourage their educational pursuits. She deeply loved all nine of her great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her son Allen, three brothers, and both her parents.
A Celebration-of-Life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10 am at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
