Lori ( Dusti ) Edson Johnson
February 9, 1963 - June 3, 2015
Our angel, Lori (Dusti) Edson Johnson returned home to heaven on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Lori was born and raised in Ogden and Clinton, UT, the daughter of Charles and Arlene Edson. Her daughter, Starrla, was her whole world, but she always had plenty of affection to spare for anyone who needed her.
Lori was a gifted musician, who played the guitar beautifully, and assumed the stage name “Dusti” as a teenager. She began her working life at the Ogden Elks Lodge as a busgirl where she once dropped a whole tray of Baked Alaska at a big party for the Mayor of Ogden. She and her family owned and operated Mr. Cone Ice Cream for 15 years, where she touched and enhanced the lives of many young people who were employed there over the years. She had a unique gift for making people almost instantly at ease and welcome in her presence.
Later in her life, she began what she felt was her most important and rewarding calling as a para-educator, working with special needs kids, who affectionately called her “Miss Lori.” The children in her care thrived on the positivity and encouragement she inspired in them. People flocked to her whether they knew her or not; she always made us feel as if we were her best friends and the most important people she had ever met, and her gift of “gab” kept us all laughing uproariously on many occasions. Her last calling, prior to her retirement, was as a caregiver for the elderly where her natural spirit of compassion and good nature was certainly appreciated by all who came in contact with her.
Lori was fortunate to find her “Prince Charming” in the person of Kurt Meyer in October of 2014, and we are profoundly grateful to him for the joy and love he brought her.
Lori was an organ donor, and we are happy to know that her corneal tissue has brought the gift of sight to two people.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Roger Edson.
She is survived by her daughter, Starrla Johnson; her mother, Arlene Phelps Edson, her brothers, Chuck (Debi) Edson and Roger Edson; her sisters, Carol (Tony) Whale and Diane (Whit) Short; and her nieces and nephews, George, Lexi, Andrew, Matthew, Brett, Joie, and Tyler.
