Lynn Ashton Cope, 78, passed away May 7th, 2015 at his home in Harrisville, Utah. He was born February 25, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to Harry Ashton and Florence Shilvock Cope.
He was reared on Wall Avenue, and graduated from Ogden High School where he was a tough as nails Football, Basketball and Baseball player. He graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Utah State University. He went on to follow in his father's footsteps, and worked as a train master for the railroad until he retired. He was also a polygrapher for many years.
He met and married Norma June Duncan and they had two sons, Gregory Ashton Cope and Steven Duncan Cope. He married Maria Anita Detrio and they shared over 30 years of companionship, taking them from Layton, Las Vegas, Parhump, and then Harrisville. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, dancing, gambling, crafts and fixing up trailers and homes.
His parents preceded him in death. He was the last of the Mohican Copes with his sisters Iris Harbertson, Betty Rio, Dorothy Taylor, and brothers Joseph, Jack, Bill, and Richard also preceding him in death. His beloved pet was Woopsie.
He is survived by his loving wife Anita, two sons Greg (Laurie) Cope, Corona, CA, Steve Cope, Hemet, CA, stepchildren Linda (Joe) Majoris, Dianne(Tony) Pavao, Jim (Joanna) Detrio, Dawn (Dave) Malan, granddaughters Natalie and Christine, grandsons Kellen and Evan, eight step grandchildren, special nephew Stephen (Meredith) Taylor and his sweet dog Blu.
A memorial lunch was held Friday, May 8th with family at Jeremiah's restaurant which Lynn loved.
