Lynn Rhys “Deacon” Smith passed away December 7th, 2022 at McKay Hospital from complications after heart surgery. He was born in Ogden, Utah on February 26, 1954 to Harrell Newton Smith and Marie Christina (Morris).
Lynn was proud to be an Ogden High Tiger. He worked hard his entire life and the physical demands took a toll on his body. He started throwing papers at age 10 and spent most of his career as a manager of Jiffy Lube and then Wendys. He also volunteered on the police reserve for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Susan Eleanor Kirkland, Mary Ethel Tornow (Cliff), and Paul Henry Smith (Jan). He is survived by his wife Lisa and his four children Megan Melissa Smith, Micah Joan Rollins, Daniel Henry Smith (Audrey), and Suzy Auralee Kadleck (Alex). He also has many grand-pups Flynn, Tadashi, Gus, Freya, and Reuben.
Lynn loved meeting people and telling stories. He enjoyed serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and spent as much time as possible in any temple. His favorite store was Deseret Industries and he could never pass up purchasing more treasures. He had a zest for life and a tremendous love for his Savior. As he often said, “all pain is temporary” and now that the chronic pain is gone forever.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am at the Lake View Ward, 4900 South 2000 West, Roy, Utah. The funeral will be held at 11:30 am followed by a luncheon.
