Who knew 33 years ago, when a little girl Mandy was born, her winding path would reach so many and so far. Mandy Lynn Garcia Gaston grew up in Roy attending Midland Elementary, Sandridge Jr and Roy High School. Mandy graduated in 2000 and shortly after was crowned Miss Roy. Mandy started dancing at age 5. She LOVED dance. It was a wonderful escape and brought her much joy and feeling of accomplishment as a young girl. She earned more competition trophies than would fit in her bedroom! Dance gave her many opportunities, Weber State Cheer and Dance Squad, Utah Jazz Dancer, and Dance Teacher to many, young and OLD In Utah and Washington State. Dancing was not her only talent. She was a Beautiful singer and was invited to sing the National Anthem at many events including a Utah Jazz game, as well as singing at weddings for special friends. She had a talent for making everyone feel important.
She loved "Beautifying" her clients and friends, doing their hair, nails and make-up. Not only will we miss her talent of making us feel beautiful, we'll miss the therapy sessions that came along with sitting in her chair. AND we will all miss " Wha eva you Like I do fo you "
Growing up in our home Mandy and her sisters were ALWAYS found singing and harmonizing together. Mandy and her sisters were best friends. She was a wonderful big sister to her triplet siblings. Kyle always held a very special place in heart. She was always his protector. After graduating from Cosmetology She married Bryon Gaston on August 28th 2004 They have two beautiful boys Kyler is 10 and Korbin is 8. She lived for her boys. Mandy and Bryon moved to Big Piney Wyoming to raise their family and while there, Mandy was able to play out her dream of opening her own salon. The close friendships she made in Piney were so precious to her and they became her second family. She left her mark everywhere she went and Big Piney was no different. Even though they recently divorced Mandy and Bryon remained friends and worked together to take good care of the boys. She may have had stage 4 Melanoma but she had stage 4 Grace and Courage to go along with it. She Battled Melanoma for 6 short months . We knew she would fight hard, but she left us all astonished at her strength, determination and bravery. She truly believed it when she said "I'm going to kick Cancer's Ass" Her immunotherapy treatment started August 19th, 2015 on her 33rd Birthday. Her cancer was on the bottom of her heel, however it was diagnosed as a planter wart and was not discovered until it spread to the lymph nodes in her groin. It was at that point diagnosed as Melanoma. She born August 19th 1982 She absolutely LOVED sharing her birthday with her Grannie. That is where her love of dragonflies evolved. Mandy wanted to spread awareness through sharing her journey on FaceBook
You will find it under " Rhythm of Hope - Mandy's Melanoma Journey
