March 11, 1975 – January 5, 2017

Marcus Houston Sargent, age 41, of Clearfield Utah, died on a day when the deepest snow covered the mountains and the valleys of the place he loved. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Teresa Henry and Thomas Ray Sargent. From age 4, he grew up in Layton, Utah raised by his mother, Teresa and her new husband, Steve Alexander who taught him how to ski at age 6. He raced for Snow Basin Ski Team during his school years at Layton High. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1994 to 1997 stationed at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He worked at Hill Air Force Base, Utah as an aircraft mechanic for 14 years. His passion for football throughout his young life grew into an uncanny knowledge of picking the winners almost every time. It was first the Cowboys and then the Eagles where he was steadfast till the end. He raised his two young sons, Dylan Chase Sargent and Devin Ace Sargent, alone. Their mother, Kelly Louise Randall, passed away when they were young.

Marcus is survived by those two sons and his mother, Teresa Henry Alexander, his stepfather Steven Alexander, and his biological father from Franklin, Alabama, Thomas Ray Sargent.

He has two surviving brothers. His older brother John Michael Sargent, wife Teresa Fondren Sargent, and their daughter Rachel Wilson Sargent live in Shorter, Alabama. His younger brother Robert Mathew Alexander and daughter Kiya Elizabeth Alexander live in Clearfield, Utah.

Marcus is also survived by his fiancé, companion, and best friend, Melissa Renee Carroll and her daughter Hannah Destiny Carroll of Clearfield, Utah.

A viewing and celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aarons Mortuary, 1050 South State Street, Clearfield, Utah. Family and friends are welcome. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.Aaronsmorturary.com
