Maren Irene Petersen
After a short battle with cancer, Maren Irene Petersen passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017. Born May 19, 1951, the sixth child of Arvid Jensen and Lily Delila (Izatt) Petersen, Maren loved to tell people she entered the world in the Logan Temple parking lot, rarely informing them it was then a hospital.
Living her earliest years in Cache Valley, Maren treasured the area, visiting whenever she had a chance. Before she was five, the family moved to Clearfield, where she was raised, graduating from Clearfield High in 1969.
Her career was spent at IRS, serving in microfilm and in the computer room at the Ogden service center. Detailed to Fresno in 1972, she also participated in the launching of the Fresno service center. Job elimination found her accepting early retirement and she enjoyed several years of retired activity.
A kid at heart, Maren adored children and delighted in Disney characters, Care Bears, and Coca-Cola merchandise. She also prized roses, crafts, and porcelain dolls. Above all, she cherished anything to do with her family. No cousin was too distant to be claimed as family and she especially enjoyed repeatedly garbled retellings of family stories and delving into family history.
Maren is survived by her brothers: Chris (Hilkka) Petersen, Layton; Harold (Zenith) Petersen, Littleton, Colorado; and Kevin Petersen, Clearfield; her sisters, Arva Lue (Curt) Curtis, Las Vegas, Nevada; and Debbie (Jim) Moody, Ogden; also sixteen nieces and nephews and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Randy and Lynn Petersen; sister, Geri Wurth;, sister-in-law, Joann (Kano) Petersen; great-niece, Eden Peterson; and great-nephew, Devin May. Maren is currently enjoying a reunion with these and many other family members and friends.
Friends may call at Aaron’s Mortuary, 1050 S. State Street, Clearfield, from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11 am with a viewing prior from 10 to 1045 am at the same location. Interment will follow in the Clearfield City Cemetery.
