Maria P. Herrera was born on June 18, 1931, to Fermin and Rosenda Archuleta Martinez in Los Brazos, New Mexico.
On December 31, 1955, Maria married the love of her life, Jose T. Herrera, in Sunset, Utah. Together, they were blessed with two children, who, sadly, passed away at a young age. Maria devoted much of her life to helping her sisters raise their children.
Maria was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed contributing to funeral dinners, going thrifting, and shopping at Walmart and K-Mart every Saturday with her husband. All who knew Aunt Mary, she loved stories about Pinochle, stuffed bears. So, the staff would pin up her coloring pictures.
In recent years, Maria resided at Rocky Mountain Rest Home, where she was cherished and well cared for. She made friends throughout the facility, visited each nurse station daily, and took great pleasure in the food. Her fondness for coffee and sweets was well known.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, her two children, all her siblings, in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Rocky Mountain in Clearfield for their loving care of their "Hey Lady" patient. She was known as the "funny lady" and will be deeply missed by the staff and the many patients she befriended.
A celebration of Maria's life will be held at a later date. Per her wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest beside her husband.
