Marilyn Parkinson

April 20, 1948 — January 22, 2016

Marilyn Parkinson, 67, of Plain City, Utah, passed away on Friday, January 22, after several weeks of battling an unexplained illness.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Alan, of Plain City, Utah; children, Chad (Jackie) Parkinson of Plain City, Utah, and Staci (Jeff) Johnson of Greeley, Colorado; sibling, Richard Stallings of Island Park, Idaho; grandchildren, Bri (Brodee), Braxton, Kasidi, Ty, Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Kanin, and Kolt; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Beth Stallings of North Ogden.

Marilyn was born on April 20, 1948, in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Weber High School in 1966. She married her high school sweetheart, Alan Parkinson, on October 21, 1965. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Marilyn worked for over 30 years for the IRS in Ogden, retiring in 2005.

Marilyn had a caring heart, and her door was always open to friends and family. She is remembered  as being “a mother to everyone.”  She had a great sense of humor and spunky personality. She was a social butterfly and loved to entertain. Easter was her favorite holiday, and she threw wonderful Easter parties that will always be remembered.

Marilyn and Alan were avid Denver Bronco fans and often celebrated their anniversaries by travelling to Colorado to cheer on their team. Marilyn loved camping and boating. Her favorite vacation spots included Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge.  Marilyn loved country music as well as watching and collecting movies.

Marilyn adored her grandchildren (her “babies”) and always enjoyed being with them and bragging about them. We will miss you “Neener.”

An open house will be held to celebrate Marilyn’s life on Tuesday, January 26, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Plain City Senior Center, 4160 West 2200 North (enter through the north side).

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Hospice and the Lomond Peak Nursing Home.  Condolences may be sent online to Aaron’s Mortuary at www.aaronsmortuary.com.
