Marion Whitney Murphy, born December 21, 1948, in Hurricane, Utah, to Daniel and Venice Murphy, passed on December 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure.

Marion spent his early years in Henderson, Nevada, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Linda Welch. Their love story spanned an incredible 57 years, marked by devotion, resilience, and joy. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising four children and creating countless cherished memories.

In their early years together, Marion and Linda relocated to Commerce, Oklahoma, to raise their family. There, Marion founded his own trucking business, taking pride in driving across the country and embracing the freedom of the open road. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication provided for his family and instilled values of hard work and determination in his children.

In 1989, the family made a new home in Elko, Nevada, where Marion found his passion as a heavy equipment operator in various gold mines. His contributions to the mining industry and his steadfast work ethic were a source of pride for him and his family.

Marion will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Known affectionately as Papa or Gramps, he brought joy to everyone around him with his humor and warmth. Marion’s adventurous spirit knew no bounds. From roller coasters to skydiving, he embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved fishing, camping, and hunting, and he cherished the beauty of the outdoors. As a self-proclaimed class clown, he never failed to brighten the lives of those around him with his endless jokes and good-natured mischief.

Marion is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Murphy; his son Kenneth Murphy and spouse Tanya Murphy; his son Daniel Murphy and spouse Samantha Murphy; and his daughter Angela Vasquez and spouse Howard Vasquez. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.

He is reunited in peace with his son, Joseph Murphy, whose memory he held close to his heart.

Marion Whitney Murphy lived a life full of love, adventure, and laughter. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
