Marion Deang Panganiban

January 27, 1959 — January 24, 2018

Marion Deang Panganiban (58) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Marion was born on January 27, 1959 in Cavite City, Philippines to parents, Edilberto Panganiban Jr. and Luzvinda Deang. He attended high school in Salinas, California and enlisted in the Air Force where he served his country from 1979-1991. He earned his Associates degree during his service. Staff Sergeant Marion Panganiban was a Weapons Mechanic and an NCO Leadership Academy Instructor. Seven years of his military service was in England--a place he loved. He met Maureen Pingree on a blind date, and they were married on August 12,1983. After his service in the military, he began working as a restaurant manager and spent the rest of his life working for many popular restaurant chains. He was a strong leader who improved conditions wherever he worked. He always led from the front.

On his days off, he could be found grilling ribs on the BBQ, sneaking sips of soda to grandkids and sitting around the table reliving stories from the past. He had a contagious laugh and had a fierce love for his children and grandchildren. His patriotism for country and love for those who serve in the military ran deep.

Marion is survived by his wife, Maureen, and his children, Adell, Holly (Mark), Lucy (Cody), Jamie (Alyssa) and Joanie (Mckay). He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Luzvinda, sister (Lisa) and two brothers (Tony and Eric). Marion was preceded in death by his father Edilberto Panganiban Jr.

Services will be held  Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Sandridge Ward Chapel, 4900 S. 2000 W. Roy, UT 84067. The viewing will be held from 10 to 10:45 am with funeral services starting at 11 am. Interment will be at  the Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
