Marlene Welch, born Aspasia Marlene Markos Kountouroudous, 80, passed away August 28, 2014 after a 9-month battle with breast cancer at her home in Ogden, Utah.
She was born February 2, 1934 in Warren, Ohio to Markos and Mary Kountouroudous.
Marlene would accomplish anything she set her mind to do. Including running the best trucking company, Welch Transfer & Storage, in the United States for 40+ years. She was a tough, smart and witty woman in business and in life.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters Olive Alex and Lillian Dawson, husband Wyman Welch, daughter Donna Anderson, daughter Gaylene Finch, long time friend and business partner Carroll Brill and grandson David Finch.
She is survived by son Mark Anderson, daughter Mardell Anderson (Leroy), 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren with one on the way, 2 grea- great grandchildren with one on the way and her 2 dogs Sunny and Twinkles.
I would like to thank my Uncle Mark for taking care of my grandma during her illness until her passing. I would also like to thank her home health caretaker Tawnie, you were very special to my grandma.
A celebration of life service will be held in her honor at a later date.
