Matthew Kent Hampton was born June 8, 1983, to Jane Clark and Kent Hampton, in Ogden, Utah. He died February 2, 2017 in Clearfield, Utah.
Matthew was the youngest of three brothers until his mother Jane met his stepfather, Jerry Martinez, and Matthew gained a stepsister and stepbrother, Ambrosha and Brandon.
Matthew grew up in Ogden and South Weber, Utah, and graduated from Washington High School in 2001. He joined the U.S. Army right after high school and served tours in Kuwait and Iraq as part of Army Field Artillery.
As a child and teenager, Matthew loved having fun with friends and family. He was very clever, and mastered the art of the quiet gutbuster joke. He was passionate about computers and electronics, and knew computer hardware and software inside-out. He lived in Colorado after leaving the service, and then moved back to the Ogden area. He earned A+ Certification and worked as a technical contractor in computers and networking throughout Weber and Davis counties.
Matthew often kept to himself, but enjoyed the company of his family and the friends he had been close to for decades. He would rarely let himself be the subject of conversation, always expressing real interest in the lives and interests of others. No matter the struggles he was having, he was known for greeting loved ones with a brave face and a cheerful smile.
Matthew was loved deeply and will be sorely missed his parents; brothers, William Hampton and Adam Hampton; stepsister, Ambrosha; and stepbrother, Brandon. He also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews, and many friends. His grandparents are Elliott and Connie Hampton, Doris and George Buchanan, and Sharon Daniels.
