Michael Lee Berger

Michael Lee Berger, 59, passed away, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the VA Hospital. Born June 11, 1951, to Robert L. and Bonnie L. Berger at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital, Denver, Colorado. Mike graduated from Laramie High School, Laramie, Wyoming, then immediately joined the Navy to serve two years off the shores of Vietnam. Upon returning to Wyoming, Mike went to work for Union Pacific Railroad for twenty-eight years. Mike married Terry Long July 16, 1977, to that union was born a son, Dustin Berger (Jeremiah Mashore) of Denver, and daughters; Brooke (Tyson) Grebe, Phoenix, AZ., and April (Stuart) White of Wellington, CO., Mike and Terry were later divorced. Upon a medical retirement from the railroad, Mike moved to Syracuse, Utah to help care for his father. Mike moved to Salt Lake City three years ago to be a part of the Valor House with the Veterans Hospital, and then the First Step House, where he mentored and assisted other veterans. He loved four-wheeling, being President of the Union Pacific Employees Club of Ogden, and playing pool. Mike is survived by his Mother, Bonnie Berger of Layton, UT., brothers; Robert E. (Bobby), (Rhonda) Berger of Syracuse, UT., Jack (Susan) Berger, Spokane, WA., and most important of all his children, granddaughter Addyson Grebe, five nephews, and two nieces, and his best friend Griz. Preceded in death by his father Robert L. Berger, and his grandparents. There will be private family services at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Pacific Employees Club Friends of Friends, c/o Richard Baldwin, treasurer, 303 Pickwicket, Conway, AR. 72032 Cremation is under the direction of Aarons Mortuary & Crematory.
