Michael T. Cross Layton- Our loving son, brother, uncle and friend, Michael Cross passed away due to complications of heart failure on June 17,2013 at his home. He was born on July 8, 1978 in Layton, Utah to Terry and Carolyn Cross. Michael showed the world what the meaning of courage and bravery is. He received an LVAD in 1999 after being diagnosed with idiopathic cardiomyopathy and received a heart transplant on September 18, 2000. He worked for the IRS in Ogden, Utah for over 10 years as a data transcriber. Michael loved spending time with his family and his favorite cat Stanley. He was a wiz at electronics, loved playing video games, and was a stellar Jeopardy player. He was an avid fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and loved to watch football with his friends. He loved his niece Madeleine Panter, and his nephews Carson and Jesse Shelton, and Wyatt and Kyle Avondet. They will miss him dearly. Michael will be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, sense of humor, and contagious smile. He had a very genuine, honest, and forgiving nature visible to all he encountered. Michael is survived by his parents; sisters, Colleen (Nathan) Shelton, Stacey (Joe) Avondet, Maggie (Darin) Toone, and Katie (Craig) Panter; and brother, Tom Cross. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cardiac Transplant Team at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. Viewing for Michael will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at Aaron's Mortuary, 1050 S. State in Clearfield, UT from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
