Michael Lee Holmes

June 20, 1957 – February 16, 2016

Michael passed away at home on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the young age of 58; he was surrounded by his loving family.

He had endured an unexpected battle with Pulmonary Hypertension and Squamous Cell Lung Cancer.  Mike left us much too soon, but we know he was welcomed with open arms by his loving family that preceded him in death.

Mike was born in Topeka, Kansas to Martha Ann Watts and Earl (Pete) Holmes on June 20th, 1957.  He spent his life moving between Kansas, California, Germany and Utah.  Mike married and began his family before joining the U.S. Army and moving to Germany. 

Mike had a very creative spirit; in his early years he was a talented magician, he then turned to music and art, and finally found himself making reproductions of antique furniture.  He also enjoyed making all types of furniture out of wood.   He enjoyed spending quiet nights at home, fishing and was an avid football fan.

Mike is survived by his wife, RaNae Holmes of Clearfield Utah, his daughter, Brandy N. Shelton (George) of Ogden Utah, his daughter, Shawna M. Carr (Kevin) of Surprise Arizona, his stepson Cody Sagez of Clearfield Utah and stepdaughter Amera Patterson of Ogden Utah.  Mike is also survived by his sister, Kathy J. Jones (Steve), his brother, Earl (Bill) Holmes, his step-father, Robert C. Watts  all of the Ogden Utah area, his step-brother, Jeff Watts (Marianne) and step-sister, Linda Martin (John) both of Pennsylvania.  Mike has 6 grandchildren and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Watts, his father, Earl (Pete) Holmes and his loving grandparents, Mabel and Ernie King, and Earl and Goldie Holmes.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. at

Harbor Christian Church, 800 S Washington Blvd, Ogden.  Refreshments will be served.
