He kept his license current even after retirement. Mike was sober for 31 years, 4 months and 25 days, and he loved helping others find their path to sobriety. He was a philosopher to the end, always reading about different views on life, death, religion, and science.

Mike's greatest joy in life was his children and his family, with fishing and shooting coming in a close second. Mike is survived by his children, Benjamin Sutton and Katie Sutton Tracy, and their spouses and children. His is also survived by his sister, Carole Steele and her children and grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Craig Sutton.
