Michelle (Mishy) Marie Morfin Shafer
September 5, 1963 – May 14, 2022
Michelle passed away on May 14, 2022 at home with her family and the love of her life, Monty Shafer by her side.
Michelle looked forward to the weekends for us to go to the Mountains, sometimes camping, at times just for a picnic to enjoy the quietness, anything to be away from home and the city. When weather permitted we would cross over the Monte Cristo Mountains to Bear Lake to have lunch. Whether it was Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter, she was always ready for us to take our weekend rides. She also enjoyed going to the ponds by our home to feed the ducks and geese and to see their newborns in the Spring. It would always brighten her day and make her smile. Once in a while she would want us to go to Wendover to play the slot machines, she loved it.
She enjoyed writing poems, she could write some very heartfelt poetry. She also liked to go to Park City to shop at the outlets and to spend a night at the Silverado Lodge. Michelle had many other enjoyments in life that she loved.
Michelle is survived by the love of her life, Monty Shafer, mother Rebecca Morfin, brother Lute II (Jan) Morfin, sister Linnie (Rico) Figueroa, son Trevor (Bob) Shafer, two granddaughters ZJanelle (Gary) Wilkins and Alexis Jessop, one grandson Robert Vasser, great-grandson Asher Wilkins, step-sisters, uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces.
Michelle was preceded in death by her father Eluid (Lute) Morfin and two children, daughter Leslie Checkman and son Ashley Jessop.
Michelle was a devoted Christain and loved to read the Bible. Michelle’s mother Rebeccca requested this Bible verse, 2nd Corinthian 5:8. We are confident, yes well pleased rather to be absent of body and to be present with the Lord.
I would like to give special thanks to her granddaughter ZJanelle for all her help that she gave me. Also very special thanks to Kelly, Heather, Cailey, Rhonda and Dr Firth at Applegate Home Care and Hospice, a very loving and caring staff.
Michelle’s wish was to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hooper City Park, 5600 S 6100 W for family and friends, Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. A private memorial for the immediate family will follow after 1:30 pm.
Michelle will be greatly missed by me and many others.
