CLEARFIELD, UTAH – Nellie LaWana Luke Croxford, 89, passed away January 23, 2016 at her daughter Denise’s home in West Point, Utah.

She was born on July 20, 1926, in Georgetown, Idaho, to William Stumpp and Lea Jeanette Tippets Stumpp. She served as a civilian sheet metal worker at Hill Air Force base during World War II repairing planes damaged in battle. After raising her family she later returned to work at Hill Air Force Base in the sheet metal shop working on the floor and in the office until her retirement.

She married Dall LaVar Luke on October 3, 1945, in Oakland, California. She later married Wayne Croxford. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt who was always mindful of her immediate and extended family. She loved quilting, gardening, canning, reading, horses, all the babies and children, and going on excursions. Her heart was always in Star Valley on the farm where she grew up, attended school, and helped raise her thirteen brothers and sisters, and in Orangeville, Utah, her first home after she was married, and where her children were born.

LaWana is survived by her four children, Dall LeRoy Luke of Phoenix, Arizona; Keith (Kristine) Luke of Ivins, Utah; Denise Peavler of West Point, Utah; and Gaye Luker of Clearfield, Utah; 17 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; her older sister, Creva Davis, younger sisters, Rebecca Clatterbuck, Kay Hobbs, Gloria Miller, JoAnn Bragg, and brother Steve Stumpp. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Dall LaVar Luke, and Wayne Croxford; sisters Lea Housekeeper, Ida Stumpp, Ruth Blackmer; and her brothers Dick, Frank Dwain, Robert, and Alma Stumpp.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Clearfield 11th Ward, 1245 S. 1175 E., Clearfield, Utah 84015. LaWana did not want a viewing or regular burial. Instead she chose to be cremated and her ashes buried where family might visit. Interment will be privately held at Clinton City Cemetery, Clinton, Utah.
