Norman E. Speechly On Thursday, December 19, 2013, Norman E. Speechly passed away at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 13, 1938 to Eric H. and Melba Thornton Speechly. Norm grew up in Ogden and as a youth he excelled in boxing and was a Golden Glove Boxing Champ. His true love and passion was golfing. Norm began as a caddy at El Monte Golf Course at age 9. It was here that he met his life- long friend, Kent Green. In January of 1956, Norm joined the US Army. While he was serving he was an avid boxer and never lost a fight. He worked at Marquardt in both Ogden and Reseda, California. On December 10, 1983, Norm married Patricia Hopper. They resided in Sylmar, California for many happy years before moving back to Ogden in 2009. They both loved to travel to places such as Spain, Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii. Norm leaves behind his wife Patti "Hopper" Speechly; daughter from a previous marriage, Wendy (Ryan) Stromberg; six grandchidren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Steven S. (Diana) Speechly; sisters, Maxene Tanner; and sister-in-law, Penelope (Jerry) Cole Preceding Norm in death are his parents; his, sister, Kristine Aldous and two nephews, Dustin Aldous and Kal Tanner. The family would especially like to thank Belinda Fierro, Jeff Conaster (Junior) and all their friends at the Barn Golf Course for their help and support. Also a special thank you to Lissa (nurse) and the Hospice Staff. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Barn Golf Course, Saturday, December 28, 2013 from1-5 pm for family and close friends.
