Olivia Eliza (Lee) Garcia, age 69, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Thursday January 6, 2022. She was born on March 22, 1952, in Montrose, Colorado to Rebecca D. Chavez and John Joseph Garcia. Lee was a beautiful lady, with a big heart and a feisty soul. She had a quirky sense of humor and loved spending time with her friends and family. She shared several years of her life, with the love of her life Sharon Smith, who proceeded her in death. She had a love for animals and especially her own pets, whom she loved and adored dearly and fed even better than herself. She also enjoyed helping others and those in need and was always there to talk to if you needed a friend. She was known to spend many Thanksgivings at home cooking and sharing her Thanksgiving meals with all of her lonely neighbors. She was a free spirit and lived her life at the tune of own beat. She had many adventures as she traveled across the country in her youth during late 1960s and early 70’s with her fellow free-spirited friends. She later settled down and met the love of her life Sharon, whom she shared a majority of her life with. They were a happy couple, and she was never quite the same after her passing. She devoted the rest of her time to taking care of her beloved cat Mugsy and helping her neighbors and those in need. Lee was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was a one-of-a-kind, funny, and feisty soul and will forever remain in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that she is in the presence of our heavenly father and in the company of her beloved Sharon, her dog Missy and cat Mugsy, as well as with all our other loved ones who preceded her in death.
Lee is survived by her siblings Raymond Lobato (Mary Lou ) of Evanston Wyoming and Peggy Lozano of San Antonio Texas, as well as niece Alicia Alvarez Correa, El Paso, Texas, nephews Alberto Alvarez, Ogden UT, Arturo Alvarez III (Ingrid) of El Paso, TX, John John Garcia of Clearfield, UT and several other nieces and nephews in Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Texas and Washington.
Lee is preceded in death by both of her parents, siblings John W. Garcia, Beverly Elizabeth Alvarez, Joe Gallegos, Gabriel Gallegos, Lawrence Garcia and Manuel Garcia as well as her lifelong partner Sharon Smith.
