Our beloved Mother, Nana and friend, Patricia Ann Kirkland (Patti or Pat), spent her final days waiting for her beloved and departed husband of over 40 years to come get her, and he finally came during the early morning hours on February 7, 2022, now they can rest together peacefully forever among the stars.
She was born to David Robert McClain and Gloria Fonda Hancock McClain Barrens on May 8th, 1950 in Pocatello Idaho, as one of 2 miracle premies. She preceded her twin brother, Paul in birth entering our world mere moments before him.
She was known by many for so many wonderful things and blessed by others with many titles that she was known by. Those of us lucky to have been blessed with her time, patience and heart filled advice called her Mom.
She married Leslie Stephen Kirkland (Steve) on May 5th, 1973 in Ogden Utah. She and Steve were blessed with the love of one son, Joseph Stephen Kirkland (Joe), whom they loved unconditionally and did anything and everything that they could do for. She and her husband worked hard, played hard, and chased their dreams, and grandkids. They lived life to what they believed was the fullest showing no regrets, standing for family and will be remembered and missed because of that, if for nothing else. They did everything that could with in their means that they could do together, the love they shared and displayed was priceless. Patti used to say, "Should have, would have, could have and a buck and a half will buy you a cup of coffee." A wonderful piece of advice that should be taken to heart and remembered because of the real truth behind it.
Patti came from humble beginnings, blessed with the love that came from having a large family and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers David (Dave), Robert (Mick), Stephen (Steve), husband and grandson Malaki Kiel Kirkland. Leaving behind her son Joe & Julie Dalton Kirkland (daughter in law), Grandchildren: Jayden Wendell Holmes, Takashi Thomas Franke, Isaiah Dalton Smith, Joseph Reign Kirkland Jr., Zakari Sheldon Kirkland, Jeszika Jade Kirkland, and Izabella Saffron Kirkland of UT, Her siblings Paul, and Bonnie of CA, and baby brother James (Jim) of NV, as well as those who are part of extended family.
After her husband passing in 2020 she opened her heart and home to many people but only few remained in her time of real need, not just in her home but her heart too. Special thanks are in order to the Dalton family for sharing in family love during the hard times, as well as fellowship, and to Shawna Smith, her children Ky and Kreed, as well as Ginger and Cliff Moncrief for their time, patience and love showed her during her final year as well as showing and teaching all of us the true meaning of southern hospitality.
A small graveside service is being held on the 23rd of February 2022 @ 12pm at the Ogden City Cemetery
