ROY- Reginald Lee Burns (Reggie) age 66 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at McKay-Dee Hospital on Wednesday July 16, 2008.
Reggie was born in Ogden, Utah, June 10, 1942 to Lowell Burns and Lena Vanwynen. He was the third of seven children. Reggie grew up in Washington Terrace where he attended school, church, excelled in sports and made numerous friends and lasting impressions to all he met.
He married his best friend Carolyn Hill on September 29, 1961 in Ogden, Utah. They had four beautiful children together and a genuine friendship that lasted until the end. They later divorced. Reggie retired from Geneva Rock in Layton, Utah in 2000.
Reggie loved the outdoors and shared his love for nature with his children and grandchildren, which will live in their hearts forever. He enjoyed all sports, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. Reggie had a great passion for history always offering fun storytelling with the ability to capture his grandchildren's attention for hours during homework time. He was the Atlanta Braves number one fan!
Reggie had a great sense of humor, and always knew how to deliver a punch line bringing laughter to all who knew him. He was quick to respond with a witty comment. No matter where he went, he always made friends. Reggie leaves a legacy of pranks and practical jokes behind that will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Reggie is survived by his four children, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, five siblings and many nieces and nephews; his children; Troy (Marla), Washington Terrace, UT; Tracy (Dan) Mosher, Roy, UT; Chad - No. Ogden, UT; Susan (Ralph) Gurule, Roy, UT; He will also be missed by his four brothers and one sister, Charles (Iva) West Point, UT.; Steve (Bonnie), Seattle, WA.; Roger a" Vernal, UT.; Cherie (Arnie) Garr, Orem, UT; Andy (Norma) Matica, CA. and sister-in-law Mary Burns a" Chapel Hill, NC.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and one brother Randy Burns.
In keeping with Reggie's wishes, a memorial service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 11-1 p.m. at Lindquist's No. Ogden Mortuary, 2140 No. Washington Blvd.
