Rey Leroy Porter, 84 quietly slipped away from mortality Wednesday morning, June 3, 2015 at his Roy, Utah home with his dedicated family by his side.  

He was born September 9, 1930 in  Preston, Id,
The fifth child of fifteen of George Riley Porter and Laverna Carter Wanner.  

Rey learned at an early age, the value of hard work and sacrifice growing up on a dairy/dry farm with 14 siblings, in the Cub River area of Idaho.

He was a longtime active member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities throughout his life, cutting travels short on Saturday to arrive home in time for Sunday meetings.  

He took pride in always being prompt to any social event or church commitment.

He married Dorothy Kathleen Straley, They had 5 children. They were later divorced.

He married the Love of his life and Eternal companion Karen Marie Barton on February 14, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had four children.  

He was employed 34 years by Ogden City Sewer Department in addition to his lawn/yard care business. He also umpired thousands of softball and baseball games during his lifetime.

He was a dedicated Husband, Father and Grandfather and loved his family very much.  They enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting trips in their trailer and any sports events.  He also loved working on the small farm he had in Roy and planting a plentiful vegetable garden.

Rey was a faithful Roy High School Booster Fan, attending every game for many years.  He has been recognized by Roy High faculty and the community for his unwavering devotion and dedication to Roy High sports, even naming a restroom (Porter Potty) after him.

He is survived by his loving wife Karen, four sisters; Ivalue, Georgia, Joan and Seles, one brother, Rhoud, daughters; Kathy (Terry) Neilsen, Sherlene (Micah) Womack, sons; George Porter, Randy (Jill) Porter, Danny (Lisa) Ward, Brent (Lillian) Porter, Bruce (Sandra) Porter, Jeff (Annissa) Porter, Darin (Brenda) Porter.  He was so proud of his 30 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  

Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and seven brothers, grandchildren; Crystal Burt, Robert Hileman III, Caden Womack, Michael Ward.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Roy West Stake Center ,5080 S 3100 W, Roy, UT 84067.  Viewings will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 6-8 p.m.
Aaron’s Mortuary 496 24th Street Ogden, UT 84401
and on Wednesday, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  

Interment at: Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd South Ogden, UT 84403.
